Christmas just gets sweeter with each new addition to our family. This year we enjoyed singing together in the car, making gifts, wrapping gifts, and decorating our house for Christmas! Laurel had a school presentation about America. They sang Patriotic songs like "You're a Grand Old Flag" then they danced the Salsa. We also went to visit Katie at her new house. Sarah was there visiting, so we got to see her too! And of course, Halloween was exhausting! Just kidding, it was actually rather low-key especially since the kids wore costumes that we already had. I did make Halloween hairbows, which is actually why I took Leah's picture. And she looked so cute. Laurel was a Queen, then changed to be a pirate. Angelinne was a princess, Leah was a Bee, then a Strawberry, then a Bee. Anika was a pink Leopard, and a giraffe. And I ran around the neighborhood with a ratty old wool jacket and a long fake nose.

The kids are learning all kinds of new things and enjoying any outings we make time for, because really, we COULD spend the whole day at home. Just preparing meals, playing with our toys, reading books, and cleaning up after all these activities would take up our whole day, everyday, if we let it.

Trip to Mexico

Yes, we went to Mexico for 2 days for Set's nephew's wedding. It was in Mexico city so we did a lot of driving in heavy traffic. The sealing in the Mexico City temple was beautiful and we had a wonderful time, it was so much fun. We missed Laurel, Angie, and Leah who stayed home with Grandma, but they had a lot of fun too! When we got back they all had curlers in their hair, ready for bed, and church the next day! Adorable!

I actually took the opportunity to eat authentic Mexican Cuisine, just not the water. Samantha and Eloy were so happy that we came, and it was so good to see the family! Family is so important! I love my family in Mexico! The brothers and sisters in the photo are: Melqui, Zara, Esther, Mama, Jocabed, Quetzalina, and Set. The guy in the orange shirt is 14 year old Jacob, what a nice kid!

On Thursday I went in for another ultrasound. Here are a few pics we got from it!

It's fun to see a baby ultrasound at this point in the pregnancy, she's really filling out with cute chubby cheeks. The Ultrasound tech said she has hair and weighs about 4 lbs. and some already! She is head down, and all the choroid plexusis cysts have resolved, she looks very healthy and is practicing breathing, good for developing the lungs! I love how the bottom picture illustrates the fact that she is really squished in there!

Laurel lost her first tooth on Saturday as she was painting! She wanted to use another color and tried to open it with her teeth, and as we saw on the dental x-ray several moths ago, the bottom middle tooth was ready to come out, and out it popped! She freaked out a little when Angie told her she was bleeding, but when she calmed down she was so excited! Pictured here with Laurel is our house guest Rocio. A Psychology major, and majorly talented with crafts too (among other things)!

I was trying out some photography technique, but anyone who's seen my blog already knows that I'm a horrible photographer. The garden went ok this year, we had some very tiny watermellons, only one of which we deemed worthy to eat. I was sweet, but very strange in color, bright orange and neon green inside!

After two failed tries to upload a video I've decided I wanted to post about something else. :P I'll have to try again another time. It was a video of Leah asleep at the high chair. Anyway, as an update on us, we had a nice weekend, which isn't over yet. We went on a date Friday night and visited with my mother-in-law who will be visiting for another week, she babysat for us. And on Saturday I took my first turn mowing the grass while Set was at work. This would have been impossible without the help of my neighbor, Tyler who got it started up for me. And I learned that it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Actually it's quite like vaccuming. Then after a lazy sort of Saturday and a quick trip to the library and the grocery store I got to go to the general Relief Society meeting. It was a well needed up-lift and very inspiring. President Thomas S. Monson shared a quote: "If you judge people, you have no time to love them"-Mother Teresa. Then he talked about Charity: the pure love of christ. He said "[charity] manifests itself when we are tolerant of others and lenient toward their actions; the kind of charity that forgives; the kind of charity that is patient. Needed is the charity which refuses to find satisfaction in hearing or in repeating the reports of misfortunes that come to others, unless by so doing the unfortunate one may be benefitted. The American educator and politician Horace Mann once said, “To pity distress is but human; to relieve it is Godlike.”
Charity is having patience with someone who has let us down; it is resisting the impulse to become offended easily. It is accepting weaknesses and shortcomings. It is accepting people as they truly are. It is looking beyond physical appearances to attributes that will not dim through time. It is resisting the impulse to categorize others." After the broadcast we had pie and icecream. It was very nice, and it was even nicer to come home to my family, all of whom were sleeping except for Laurel when I walked in the door. To day we went to church, and tonight we expect to hear from family and enjoy a good visit at Mom's. Hope all of you are well.

And beach too! It's on it's own little island. Actually before they built the concrete road the road was a sandbar and at night when the water would rise the road would sink under the water and seemingly dissapear. So, anyone who went there would have to return before the tide came in or they would have to stay in Mont St. Michel.

To celebrate Jarod's B-day this year we went to play games in the backyard. There were prizes and pizza, we all had a good time. Life After Vacation

Yes, there is life after the vacation...however less-exciting at times, but really, how boring could life be with three little girls to take care of? Not very. Since we've been home we've had a welcome home party for Katie and her family, been to a birthday party, a wedding, and now we're almost at the close of Laurel's year in Kindergarten! She's reading 2nd grade books now! We're so proud of her! Angelinne is doing well and Leah will be walking any day now! We'll keep you posted! Love to all!

Laurel was amazed at the Princess Lunch, you can see her face here... We met Ariel, Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White, and Belle and the food was awesome. We're going to try to make the fruit jello just like they had there with Sliced apple in it. I only wish I could make a white chocolate conch shell like they had there. Yum! Anyway these are a few photos of our day spent at California Adventures. When we got there we rode the carousel a few times and then the new Buzz Lightyear ride, then we took turns riding the California Screamin'- the rollercoaster. Daniel and Set went and then Julie and I went. I enjoyed it! Then I took Laurel to the bathroom and on the way a girl gave Laurel a stuffed toy, Dumbo. I guess she won it at a game and didn't want it, how nice! The rest of the kid rides Laurel rode with an adult because of the height requirements she was the only one of our kids allowed. After our nap time back at the hotel we went back for pizza, then went to Disneyland to enjoy the fireworks show. It was so great! We loved our vacation, I feel as though I got a whole new perspective on life! We've got to do this more often!

We love our dear Angie, she has a talent for caring for "owies" and she is tough for a little kid. She is rather advanced in speech, and she's always ready to fight the "bad guys" but she also loves her Barbies. She also has a keen interest in water (both swimming/playing in it, and creatures that live in it) so for her birthday activity we went to the Aquarium to see their new addition- penguins.

I had to include this video for my Dad who, when he asked what Leah might like and I responded "A Bumbo" was feling a little out of the loop. Yes, this is a bumbo and you can see why it is so fun for babies, and moms! When she first sat in it she directly turned her attention to her toes and has been playing with them at every diaper change since! I enjoy being able to see her moving around more and interacting with the world around her. It does have a tray that attaches to it to hold toys or eventually food. Anyway I hope you enjoy this little video clip as much as I do! She's just soooooooo cute!

We slept in and opened presets, then went to mom's to open our presents from her, then went to visit Grandma & Grandpa Phillips, who fed us breakfast and gave us even more presents! We had dinner at Betsy's after a quick break and 'battery charge' at home, then we all settled our brains for a long winter's nap. Hope your Christmas was great! Laurel made a gingerbread house at school and brought it home for us to share

I had to take a picture of it before it was gone, and Laurel enjoyed posing for those pictures!

Angie has been sneaking into my bed, I was surpised how well they have been sleeping so close to eachother. I thought they would wake eachother up, but they sleep like this for hours! Aren't they sweet?

For family, friends, healthy beautiful kids... these are just a few things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving! I couln't have asked for a better Thanksgiving week, with the surprise arrival of my brother and his family, including their newborn baby girl, as well as a long-awaited and highly anticipated arrival of my Dad and Mom from Georgia! We had a cozy family-centered holiday, where every day was perfect! Thanks Dad and Mom for the visit, and thanks to all my wonderful friends and family who show us so much love and support! Harvest Time

It's Harvest time and and we've been busy, busy, busy making use of the fruits and vegetables that have been shared with us by our wonderful neighbors who

have much greener thumbs than I do! These carrots met a tasty end in my chicken noodle soup, and we've got apples coming out of our ears which have been devoured with caramel and also as applesauce. We carved our pumpkins last Sunday, Set's is the cyclops... I've also been busy whipping up Halloween costumes. I made this pink fuzzy suit for Angelinne to go with her bunny ears. I think she looks quite cute! Too bad the face paint only lasted 5 minutes... She looks so cute when she hops though!

Dressing up...

..is fun to do! Here is Leah all dressed up like a princess. She fell asleep and then Angie put the ring on her finger and the other dress-up stuff was strew around the room, so I had a little fun. Mom had suggested putting cucumbers on her eyes, foil in her hair and painting her nails, but this is as far as we have gotten so far. Girls are so much fun!!!

This is what's new with us. My mother-in-law is gone back to Mexico, she left at the beginning of this week. And for the past week and half we've had Bella,the chihuahua. So, yes, I've had my hands full, and yes.....I am crazy!

Baby Leah's blessing was very nice and it was wonderful to see and have over so many friends and family! Leah wore the dress that mom made for Laurel when she was born,Angelinne also wore this dress.

First Day of School!

This is Laurel on her first Day of Kindergarten. She was so confident and didn't even act like it was a big deal

! That helped me deal with the change, and besides, I'm too busy now to be worried about it. I love my little Kindergartener! Laurel is so smart and we like it when the homework is easy. We enjoy walking to/from school most days.

Soccer

Laurel started soccer earlier this month, her team name is the Butterfiles. Aimee is on the team as well as some other friends in the neighborhood.

Happy Baby

We are lucky to have a happy baby. Leah greets us with tons of smiles in the morning and they are so cute to see.

Having our third child has prompted me to pose some new questions, such as; What do you do with horribly stained but otherwise good clothing? and What is "garbage", really? So many things are recyclable or can be used in other ways. What truely falls into the category of trash? Just a few thoughts...
